Thanks for last night, and open turntables tonight at China1

Hey Everybody,

Thanks to the folks who came through last night. Even the cops and the state liquor authority (both of whom stopped through) couldn't shut us down, though they certainly did slow us down in the early evening. Big props to It's Overture, Delicate, Voidstar and the Theory Team for making it awesome.

So tonight I'm back at China1 to work, and to help while away a slow sunday night I got a small budget to get cabfare and drinks for DJs who want to come through and drop an hour or two of music upstairs by the windows out onto Avenue B. 100 dBs is rumored to be jumping on this evening, but more are welcome. Hit me up at theorysam@gmail.com if you want us to save you a spot.

Cheers,
Sam

Top 10 Reasons to be at ArtCrime3 on Saturday!

10. Free Entry ALL NIGHT

9. Absence of excessive hair gel and cologne

8. A special performance of all new work from Voidstar Runner and the Robot jazz ensemble

7. The best moments of the night might be captured by our world class photographer

6. $25 Open Bar from 8-11....exactly

5. Everyone knows everyone...at least by the end of the night

4. It's Overture is guranteed to moisturize your situation

3. If you missed ArtCrime 1 & 2 you owe it to yourself, and if you were there you've been planning on coming way before this list came out.

2. China1 is your favorite bar's favorite bar

1. Now you'll already have something to look forward to next month

Look, this list isn't even necessary. All the great artists and the rest of the Theory community continue to exceed expectations and keep the whole venue wet party after party. If you haven't heard It's Overture you're basically wack. Matter of fact, I take that back, if you haven't heard them and haven't cleared your Saturday yet, you're wack. Redeem yourself. You know what? We're even going to show you who taught It's Overture how to mix, with a late night performance from a real Delicate man. Cheap drinks, songs you didn't even realize you've been dying to hear, and a bar full of people committed to gettin the fuck down. Beat that.

Great News! A personal message from Sam

Hey Everybody,

As some of you already know, I've been looking for part-time work now that school's started back up. At least for the moment, that search is over. I'm extremely happy to announce that as of tomorrow (Thursday) evening, I'll be managing the China1 Antique Lounge three nights a week. Coincidentally, 100 dBs will be spinning downstairs in the Antique lounge from around ten o'clock- I'm not sure if it's a private party, but come through and hang out with us just the same!

For real though, I certainly didn't get this job solely on my own strengths; I've been working closely with the ownership and staff of China1 for several months now on behalf of Theory Events, and if my big talk hadn't been backed up by the skills and styles of DJ's like 100 dBs and It's Overture, the charm and finesse of MCs like Ryan O'Neil and Professor Meat, the many technical and artistic talents of Voidstar Runner, the brilliant event photography and art of Meg Rorison or the organizational prowesses of Ashir and Josh Gruder, none of this would have been possible. Without Theory's contributing artists and dedicated staffers like Yarrow Maurer, Koche/Grey, Reise Roberts and even, yes, Eric George, it might have been possible, but it wouldn't have been half as much fun. I owe you all a hell of a lot more than thanks, but give me a few weeks to learn the ropes before you try getting crazy comps off me, ok? ;-)

Anyway, the best is definitely yet to come. I was actually at China1 to book some more Theory parties when I got the job, but I closed the deals first. Put these hot tickets on your calendar and bookmark theoryevents.com for all the latest:
